Bedrooms made out of ice

This beautifully crafted ice hotel in Sweden is located in Jukkasjärvi, a village near Kiruna, in the far north of Sweden.

 

What you may think now might be:

No way! This cannot be all made out of ice and snow. At least something must be glass.

But believe it or not - this is all made out of ice.

 

 You can even marry in this ice church if you want, or dance in the ice disco!

Those rooms are really all made out of ice and snow and the beds are made out of a wooden case, on top of which rests a reindeer skin and some furs and special sleeping bags for you to sleep in.
Each room has its own nice interior design. Even the furniture is authentic.

London and Orla Kiely

I have never visited London, but I hope that some day I will find my way there. I'm interested in finding new shops and small boutiques to wander. And of course it would be nice to see Big Ben and maybe a football game too. But why I started to mumble about London is because Orla Kiely shop is located there. I really like the patterns they use and I would like to see some products live. Before visiting the actual store I luckily have the option to browse in their webshop.

Bedroom - a place to relax

Bedroom is one place where people spent a lot time in. Sleeping, dressing up, working (a work desk in bedroom - bad habit!) and well, some other things too maybe... Bedroom should be a place where you can load your batteries after a hard day at work. So what are the things that make a bedroom relaxing? I'm no expert, but things that are important in my opinion are for starters the bed and textiles. And colors of course!

Futon - good for back, good for eye?

Futon is a mattress type that originates from Japan and other eastern countries. Futons mattresses are usually filled with cotton or wool. Though some have also more exotic fillings such as latex layers in them. Compared to usual mattresses, futons are much less soft. Because they don't give up under body weight, many say that they are better for your back. Some also like them better for sex as they give better support.

Futons can be used with almost any interior design, but they are probably best for simplified Japanese styling:

Because futons don't have springs or other complex parts, they can change shape. Usual Japanese style is to roll mattress away from bed after waking up and hiding it into a closet - great way if you're tight on space. Futons are also great for quest room or for sofa-bed.
