Different Kinds of Beer From Around the World You May Have Not Tried Yet

Pito –  Sorghum/Millet: Africa


Pito is a type of beer made from fermented millet or sorghum. It is commonly produced in northern Ghana, parts of Nigeria, and other parts of West Africa. This homemade beer is never found bottled or canned, and, as a rule, is purchased directly from the household in which it is brewed.

Millet Beer – Millet: Africa


Millet Beer is a type of beer common throughout Africa where it is also known as Bantu Beer, Kaffir Beer, or Opaque Beer. This alcoholic beverage is made from malted millet.

Kriek Beer – Belgium


Kriek is a unique style of beer from Belgium. It is made by fermenting Iambic with sour Morello cherries. Traditionally "Schaarbeekse krieken", a rare Belgian variety from the area around Brussels are used.

Bamboo Beer – China



Most beers are made from grains like barley and others. One of the most unusual sources of beer is bamboo. In case you haven't tried it yet, have a taste of it and enjoy the unique and wonderful taste of bamboo beer.

Tesguino – Corn: Mexico
Tesguino is a corn beer made by the Tarahumara Indians of Sierra Madre in Mexico. The average Tarahumara spends at least 100 days per year directly concerned with tesguino and much of this time under its influence or aftereffects. A beer made from corn or lichen flour is called “Batari”. A beer made from fresh corn stalks is called “Paciki”. Tesquino is the most sacred, it is made from corn kernels which are soaked, then ground up, boiled and left to ferment naturally with wild yeast and flavored with a local grass.

Rye Beer – Rye: Europe


Rye beer refers to any beer in which rye is substituted for some portion of the barley malt. Roggenbier of Germany is one example of Rye Beer. It is a specialty beer produced with up to 60% rye malt. Sahti of Finland is another fine example of Rye Beer. It is produced by brewing rye with juniper berries and wild yeast. Another type of rye beer is Kvass

Wheat Beer – Wheat/Barley: Europe and Other Parts of the World


Wheat beer is a type of beer that is brewed with a large proportion of wheat. Wheat beers often also contain a significant proportion of malted barley. Wheat beers are usually top-fermented and its flavor varies considerably, depending upon the specific style.
